"Come, let us return to the LORD; for he has torn,
that he may heal us; he has stricken, and he will bind
us up.
After two days he will revive us; on the third day he
will raise us up, that we may live before him.
Let us know, let us press on to know the LORD; his
going forth is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as
the showers, as the spring rains that water the
earth."
What shall I do with you, O E'phraim? What shall I do
with you, O Judah? Your love is like a morning cloud,
like the dew that goes early away.
Therefore I have hewn them by the prophets, I have
slain them by the words of my mouth, and my judgment
goes forth as the light.
For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the
knowledge of God, rather than burnt offerings.
Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with
ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my
first-born for my transgression, the fruit of my body
for the sin of my soul?"
He has showed you, O man, what is good; and what does
the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love
kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
Cast away from you all the transgressions which you
have committed against me, and get yourselves a new
heart and a new spirit! Why will you die, O house of
Israel?
For I have no pleasure in the death of any one, says
the Lord GOD; so turn, and live."
And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are
to drink, nor be of anxious mind.
For all the nations of the world seek these things;
and your Father knows that you need them.
Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things shall be
yours as well.
"Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good
pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Sell your possessions, and give alms; provide
yourselves with purses that do not grow old, with a
treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no
thief approaches and no moth destroys.
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be
also.
In this is love, not that we loved God but that he
loved us and sent his Son to be the expiation for our
sins.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one
another.
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out
fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and he who
fears is not perfected in love.
We love, because he first loved us.
