This is a marker for a page I plan to write soon. Just brief notes for now:
I regard this as my ``home'' operating system. I grew up on BSD (ever since leaving the world of ancient mainframes). That it's FreeBSD I got on home machines, rather than OpenBSD or NetBSD, was a matter of personal contacts.
My main machine at work runs Linux; that's simply what's provided in the way of Unix-style systems.
Much as I dislike Windows, I run it because I use Dragon speech recognition software, and that's what that runs on. (However, I have now found claims that it is possible to run it under Wine, which would be a big step forward.)
My phone runs this. I had a quick look into programming it, but it looked a bit less programmer-friendly than microcode.
