I was previously based at St.
Bene't's parish church, which is in the centre of Cambridge, and
is in part the oldest building in the county, the tower having been
built around 1030. However, at the moment I'm not going there for the
main Sunday services as they are currently too noisy for me... I miss
being able to settle down quietly into prayer at the start of the
service, as people talk more and more. When I found myself thinking of
suggesting a senior crêche for people who were too old to keep
quiet, I decided there was no longer any point in staying! However,
the standard of teaching is high, and I sometimes pop in for the
sermon having been to any early service elsewhere.
